Our Story
The Cinderella Project began with a dream and a single dress.
Â
Growing up, I (Malerie) cherished my prom memories and have always been grateful that I had the opportunity to experience such a special milestone. Those memories stayed with me, and I realized that not every student gets the same chance because of the financial burden that comes with attending prom. I believed every girl deserved to feel just as beautiful, confident, and celebrated as I did.
Â
It all started when I found one formal dress. I decided to save it in hopes that one day it could help someone else. Before long, we were blessed with more dress donations from generous members of our community. What began with one dress quickly grew into something much bigger than I ever imagined.
Â
As the vision grew, my aunt, Marie, stepped in to help in every way she could. Together, we realized we had the opportunity to create something truly meaningful—not just by providing dresses, but by giving students confidence, hope, and the chance to make lifelong memories.
Â
Today, The Cinderella Project is committed to ensuring that financial hardship never prevents a student from attending prom or another special formal event. Through the generosity of our donors, volunteers, and community partners, we provide free formal attire, shoes, accessories, and encouragement so every student can walk into their special night feeling confident, beautiful, and valued.
What started with one dress has become a mission to make so many more fairytales possible.
